How to use it
- 1
Paste a page URL that contains images.
- 2
WebDiag collects img/srcset/picture and social image candidates from the HTML.
- 3
Review broken images, wrong content types, and skipped candidates.
What the tool can do
- Extracts images from img src, srcset, picture source, poster, and meta social image tags.
- Checks HTTP status, final URL, and image/* content-type without downloading the body.
- Shows checked candidate limits separately so the tool does not become an uncontrolled crawler.
Common use cases
- Find broken product/hero images after deployment or CDN migration.
- Check og:image and twitter:image before publishing a page to social platforms.
- See images that return HTML, redirects, or errors instead of an image content-type.
How it works inside
Image URLs are normalized against the page final URL and deduplicated.
Checks use backend SafeHttpFetcher in read_body=false mode with redirect and SSRF limits.
Questions and answers
Is this the same as Image SEO Audit?
No. Broken Image Checker checks availability and content type. Image SEO Audit checks alt, dimensions, lazy loading, and SEO signals.
Why are CSS background images not shown?
The MVP reads static HTML. CSS/background/runtime resources belong in the future browser or crawler layer.
