02

What the tool can do

  • Deterministic five-bit RGB quantization of a downsampled image.
  • HEX, RGB, count, and percentage of sampled pixels.
  • Transparent pixels are skipped; partial transparency is composited onto white.
03

Common use cases

  • Quickly getting HEX values from a reference image.
  • Preparing a draft UI palette.
  • Manually comparing dominant colors across images.
04

How it works inside

The sample's longest side is limited to 160 pixels.

Equal-frequency colors are sorted by HEX for stable output.

Questions and answers

Is the file uploaded?

No. Decoding, Canvas sampling, and quantization run in the browser.

Does the palette contain every image color?

No. It is a bounded downsampled palette, so small details may be omitted.
